KIDS CLASSES
ADULT CLASSES
$2.00 ART CLASSES-PLANET ARTS
Art classes for kids ages 5-12, at the Willard Arts Center. Thursday from June 5-July 24.
12-1 pm. Cost is $2.00 per class. Limit 3 classes per child. To register please call the Idaho Falls Arts Council at (208) 522-0471 with a credit/debit card or stop by the office at 498 A Street. Registration will begin May 8th at 11 am

Cartooning 101: In this class kids will learn the basic of creating people and animals that
make you laugh
June 12
Pinch Pots: Young artists will knead, roll and fold clay, then pinch it into a bowl
they can take home.
June 19
Scratch Board Art: Kinds will learn the concept of ‘negative space’ using scratch board paper
June 26
Plaster Magnets: Using found objects as molds, kids will pour plaster and paint kitchen magnets
July 3
Wire Mobiles: In this class young artists will create elaborate shapes with wire, and then attach them to a support so they can flutter in the wind.
July 10
Collage and Decoupage: Kids will cut photos and combine with tissue to create colorful scrap book covers
July 17
Sand Painting: In this class, kids will design and layer colored sand to create exciting pictures
July 24
Flag Painting: Kids will explore symbolism by creating a flag that represent themselves.

BUMPY, CLUMPY, TEXTURE PAINTS

We will cover our canvases in plaster and then use our hands and sponges to finish the composition. We will explore the elements of art and how texture can change our compositions.
EXPERIENCE COLOR WITH DECOUPAUGE

We will create many pieces of art using tissue paper and decoupage. We will study the artists who used this technique. Henri Matisse is one of the most famous and we will study his methods. Students will create a collage, lamp shade, window hanging, and a 8 by 10 piece of artwork they can frame.
ART FUNDAMENTALS

Students will learn everything from A-Z on the basics of art. They will be introduced to different theories and ideas. We will use charcoal, graphite, India ink,conte crayons, colored pencils, and oil pastels. We will draw with white chalk on black construction paper and study negative and positive space. This is a great class to learn the basics.
COLORED PENCILS

Students will concentrate on the basics of colored pencils. We will learn about layering colors and color lifting. We will complete a project using the value scale in a monochromatic color scheme.
DRAWING FOR THE YOUNG ARTIST

Wannt to develop your drawing skills? In this introductory class, come learn the basics of composition, perspective, and value. We will use exercises to develop helpful observation skills. No drawing experience is necessary, only a strong desire to draw.

Every week on Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. each month we study a new medium.
WACKY WATERCOLORS
May 7,14,21,28 4-5 p.m
Students will learn how to manipulate this tricky medium. We will learn the basic of watercolors and how to create fantastic works of art. Students will exit the class with a composition in watercolor and a clear understanding of how to paint with watercolors.
CHARCOAL WORKSHOP
June 4,11,18,25 4-5 p.m.
This hour long action packed class will focus primarily on value, shape, and perspective. They will learn how to create shadows so objects look 3-dimensonal using charcoal. Dress for mess.
COLLAGE COLOR EXPLOSION
July 2,9,16,23,30 4-5 pm
Students will explore abstract works of art created by famous artist such as Kandinsky and Rothko and then apply the same ideas and methods to their canvases. Students will use acrylic paint, tissue paper, and photo montage to create unique and dramatic compositions. Dress for mess!
OIL PAINTING

June, Tuesday 3, 10, 17, 24 5:30-8:30 pm
Here’s anothoer opportunity to learn how to paint iwth oils. This class will cover all the basics of oil painting. We will learn how to prepare a canvas for painting and how to compose the artwork. Students will leave this class with a very clear understanding of how to work with oil paints and will complete a painting. A supply list will be sent.
FIGURE STRUCTURE DRAWING

July, Tuesday 8, 15, 22, 29 5:30-8:00 pm
Students will study the human form and learn to draw all elements of the body using moveable wooden models. We will study proportions and the skeletal structure that makes up the human body. This will build a strong base for artists. A supply list will be sent.
